Body Butter Recipe With Beeswax
An easy DIY recipe, this homemade, honey whipped body butter with beeswax has only five ingredients. Thus, it's a simple DIY beauty recipe and makes a thoughtful homemade spa gift. This homemade whipped body butter is a great way to keep your legs smooth and nourish your skin during the cooler months. Whip up a batch of the body butter with beeswax and use it all winter long!
Homemade body butter with beeswax is easily one of my go-to products. In fact, DIY lotions were the first thing I began making when I started changing over my beauty products. They're simple, smell great, and insanely moisturizing for your skin!
Considering this, once I had my first babe, you had better believe that baby body butter and diy baby wipes were on the list too!
This honey whipped body butter with beeswax (like my DIY grapefruit body butter) is full of natural ingredients that will help your skin stay soft and smooth.

Why Use Honey In Homemade Whipped Body Butter?
Honey has long been said to help improve the appearance of skin inflammation and scaring- making it a great addition to a DIY lotion! Furthermore, it helps with tissue regeneration and it's healing properties. Not to mention, the amazing scent makes it ideal to add to a homemade body butter with beeswax.
The other ingredients in the honey whipped body butter recipe with beeswax all promote silky, soft, and smooth skin. This means that this homemade body butter recipe is amazing for the entire body but specifically the legs and tummy. In contrast, be careful using it on your face however as it is oil-based.
How To Use Body Butter
Like most homemade body butters, once you apply the whipped body butter wait a few minutes before putting clothes on so that your skin has time to absorb the oils. Not only will this keep your skin soft but it prevents your clothes from being ruined too!
Likewise, don't forget to check out this " do's and don'ts" list when making homemade body butter recipes.
If you're looking for a light, homemade body butter with beeswax that will nourish and repair your skin, this Whipped Honey Body butter with lotion is perfect. It smells simple and homey and the ingredients contain healing properties. It will keep your skin hydrated and soft.
Is It Sticky?
This is a question I get a lot. When you're first putting the homemade whipped body butter on, yes it is a bit tacky. However, the stickiness does go away as the homemade body butter absorbs into the skin.
I personally use this whipped body butter with beeswax after I shower (so that it is best absorbed into the skin). The tackiness is already gone by the time I'm ready to get dressed.
How Does It Harden?
Much of this depends on the environment you live in. If stored in a cool cupboard, the honey whipped body butter does harden after a few days.
However, once it is on your skin (especially after a warm shower or bath) the homemade body butter begins to melt again.
Much of this is due to the coconut oil in the body butter recipe. Specifically, the colder coconut oil is the harder it becomes and vice versa.

How Long Does It Last?
This homemade honey whipped body butter with beeswax technically contains no preservatives (learn more about preservatives for homemade beauty products). However, in my experience so long as no water gets into the lotion (water causes mold), the homemade body butter will last a few months.
Truthfully, I've never had a DIY lotion recipe spoil. That said, much of it is about being careful about water.
Not Into The DIY Thing But Aiming For All-Natural Beauty Care?
Side note: if making your own body lotion is still a bit overwhelming or if you're just too lazy to make some this second, grab the almond vanilla body butter from Primally Pure.
It smells effing AWESOME and Primally Pure uses only natural chemical-free ingredients. Seriously, I can pronounce and buy them all. #win If you do end up on their site, use fitasamamabear to save yourself 10% off your entire first order!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon Shae butter
- 1.5 tablespoons Beeswax Pellets
- 1 tablespoon Almond Oil
Kitchen Tools You May Find Helpful
- Double boiler
- Mini whisk
- Mini mason jars
- Measuring spoons
You can find all the DIY ingredients you need from my DIY Staples page or from my Amazon Storefront.
A fun note: I say "double-boiler" so that someone doesn't accidentally use a jar and crack it in the water. That said, I personally just use mason jars and place them directly into a pot of boiling water (about two inches worth), just as you would when canning. Keep it simple mamas 😉
How To Make It
In a double boiler or glass jar combine all ingredients.
Heat the ingredients over medium until everything is melted (about 12-15 minutes). Then, whisk often to combine. You want to ensure that everything is fully melted.
Let sit on the counter until the mixture hardens (roughly six hours but up to twenty-four). The honey will look like it has separated to the bottom of the container.
Once harden, whip the body butter for two to three minutes until it is combined and looks light and fluffy.
Transfer it to a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.
